A Tennessee police department said one of its K-9s has been found dead after being lost during historic flooding from Hurricane Helene. UNICOI COUNTY, Tenn. — The Erwin Police Department in Unicoi County said one of its K-9s was found and "no longer with us" after being lost during historic flooding in East Tennessee from Hurricane Helene.

First responders, including a police K-9 from Tennessee, are among the more than 150 who were killed as Hurricane Helene hammered the U.S.

North Carolina officials are continuing to advise that drivers do not go out on the roads due to the floods and the structure damage the rising water may have caused, and some of the same advice is true in Tennessee as well.

Athens Utilities said it got a call to help crews in Tennessee with damage from Hurricane Helene. Athens Utilities wrote that a six-man line crew was sent to Erwin, Tennessee, to help the line crew with all the damage from Hurricane Helene.

Dozens of New England utility crews are headed to Virginia to assist in Hurricane Helene relief efforts. Eversource utility crews from Massachusetts and Connecticut left on Sunday morning to support Appalachian Power with restoring service in the south after Hurricane Helene wreaked havoc on the south.
