Tyrell Malacia has not played for United for well over a year now but is expected to return imminently after a serious knee injury. Victor Lindelof is another United defender not to have played this season but returned to training ahead of the Palace game following a toe injury.

Glasner complained after the Carabao Cup win over Queens Park Rangers in midweek that his team was too slow moving the ball and passed too much. That was evident for a lot of this game. Ismaila Sarr made a significant difference when he came on and Jeffrey Schlupp’s direct running in the final few minutes made an impact too.
