For the past couple of years American BMW fans have watched with envy as other parts of the world got to enjoy the M3 Touring, a car not sold in the U.S. The regular 3-series Touring body style isn't federalized,

Like many of its SUV counterparts, the first U.S.-bound M5 Touring is basically a Vegas illusionist, able to make several hundred pounds disappear.

BMW has offered M5 Tourings in the past, but not since 2010 and never in the US. We’ll probably have to wait until early next year to try one in North America, but we did get a chance to get behind the wheel of a wagon in Germany where we recently drove this car’s sedan brother.
