Feeling good about some other initially competitive races, rank-and-file Democrats want to challenge Republicans in states that once seemed like too much of a reach.

Gary Peters (Mich.), the chair of Senate Democrats’ campaign arm, told reporters Tuesday morning the party is “likely” to spend more on contests in Texas and Florida, two supremely expensive Republican-leaning states where Democrats may need to pull off upset victories to have a Senate majority next year.

Sen. Gary Peters (D-Mich.), chairman of the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC), indicated that the party is not yet committed to devoting financial resources to Texas or Florida despite their claims that they are in striking distance to flip the two GOP-held seats.
