POMPTON LAKES — The wildfire that continues to burn in the Cannonball Road area of the borough has spread to 162 acres, but the New Jersey Forest Fire Service reported it had made "significant progress" on Saturday afternoon.

NJ officials released updates on the fire spreading across the Greenwood Lake area and another that raged through the weekend in Passaic County.

The Jennings Creek wildfire raging along the New Jersey-New York border had grown to 3.000 acres as of Sunday night, state officials said, but another blaze in Pompton Lakes was finally contained after firefighters battled throughout the weekend.

The Jennings Creek wildfire is still burning as of Monday morning, according to officials. The wildfire has burned 5,000 acres, spanning from New Jersey to New York and is only 20% contained, according to Bryan Gallagher,
