Years ago, KMF supplied ghee to the temple in Tirupati to make laddus. Later, with a change in leadership in the temple committee, the order was cancelled, and tenders were called. KMF did not supply ghee as the company could not match the lowest quoted price.

Amid the ongoing controversy over use of ghee containing animal fat at the Tirupati temple in Andhra Pradesh, the Karnataka government issued a directive on Friday (20 September) that mandates the use of Nandini brand ghee across 34,000 temples under the state's temple management body.

The official circular emphasised that temple staff must ensure that the quality of 'prasada' is never compromised.

The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) board resumed sourcing Karnataka Milk Federation's Nandini ghee for the laddoos recently, following Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu's directive to improve its quality.
