Houston voters will consider a 58% tax increase to bolster flood prevention through the Harris County Flood Control District.

The agency says it needs to raise the tax rate by nearly 60% to ensure the county’s aging flood control system can protect homes and businesses.

If approved, Proposition A would fund the ongoing maintenance and operation of the district’s flood risk reduction infrastructure.
