It was a chaotic scene this weekend as Memphis Police say an 18-year-old pistol-whipped a woman, carjacked her and led officers on a police chase before crashing in Whitehaven. Martavn Wilson was eventually arrested and is now looking at a list of charges.

Mississippi Valley State University junior linebacker Ryan Quinney, who was a passenger in a car involved in a police chase, was killed in a crash that left the driver injured.

In a state ranked 8th highest for pursuit-related deaths, traffic infractions or property crimes prompted the vast majority of chases — reasons not worth deaths or even pursuits, experts say.
